Mid-Week Whackadoo: Tomato Wasters

The epic event in what Web TV DeLuXe calls The Attack of the tomato killers and what The Spaniards call ‘Tomatina’ or tomato fight also known to others as The annual tomato throwing fight kicked off in Bunol, Spain. Thousands of whackadoos world-wide participated to waste perfectly good tomatoes to hurl at one another while having horrendous body odors. This whacky event hails back to 1945, and it easily could be the town’s biggest event of the year. It’s held on the last Wednesday on the month of August in the small town of Bunol. The details of Tomatina has nothing to do with religion or culture. It’s more of an opportunity for thousands of silly humans to throw over-ripe tomatoes at each other to blow off steam. The tradition says that when the supply of tomatoes runs dry, the revelers all jump into a river nearby while the local fire brigade hoses the streets clean. Sounds like it’s sanitize. I hope the Killer Tomatoes gets their revenge on these peasants.
